The Teapot

The Challenge: Photograph a glass teapot on a black background so that there is little or no unwanted reflections in the glass on the stainless steel tea strainer is clearly visible. The top photograph show the completed photograph and the bottom photograph show the setup. I set the teapot on black valuer and surrounded it with black foam core. I lit the teapot with a softbox positioned above and slightly to the back. Then I positioned a small strobe below the teapot and directly below the camera. I placed a polarizing filter on the camera lens and and apposing filter on the small strobe. This to light the strainer without reflection. The whole set up took about two hours to complete.

Marylou & John Kozub

I have taken Marylou and John Kozub’s family photographs for years. Now that their children are all grown, they have taken to raising dogs to be trained as Guide Dogs for the Blind. Last weekend I took this photograph of Marylou and John the day before they turned over one of these dogs to complete their training.
