The Teapot

The Challenge: Photograph a glass teapot on a black background so that there is little or no unwanted reflections in the glass on the stainless steel tea strainer is clearly visible. The top photograph show the completed photograph and the bottom photograph show the setup. I set the teapot on black valuer and surrounded it with black foam core. I lit the teapot with a softbox positioned above and slightly to the back. Then I positioned a small strobe below the teapot and directly below the camera. I placed a polarizing filter on the camera lens and and apposing filter on the small strobe. This to light the strainer without reflection. The whole set up took about two hours to complete.

Wow Fred - this looks really cool. I like that you explained how you got the shot. I think many people don't realize the challenges of "good" photography.

Thanks, Maureen
