Simi Valley Republican Women Gala

Recently I photographed the 50th Anniversary Gala of the Simi Valley Republican Women Federated at the Ronald Reagan Library. The event was held in the Air Force One Pavilion and was attended by over 300 people. The featured speaker was radio talk show host John Ziegler.

Diavid Aaker

Last Wednesday I photographed David k. Aaker a national speaker on customer service at the monthly Business Development Luncheon for the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce. The event was well attended at the scenic Lost Canyons Golf Club. Mr. Aaker was great to photograph because he is very animated. Here are some of my favorites in a composite.

Allison and Tyler

It's been a usy wedding month. On July 11th I photographed Allison Kerr's wedding at the beautiful Moorpark Country Club here in Moorpark. Although I expected it to be hot the weather was perfect. here are some of my favorites from the day.

June Networking Breakfast

Fun times were had this morning at the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce Networking Breakfast. Six new chamber members were in attendance and many people won prizes. This month the theme was honoring businesses in the event planning including Command Performance Caterings, New Directions Event Planning, and several local hotels. All of them I have had the pleasure of working with.

I recently photographed Minoo Shilati Ph.D. for her website. After she arrive here at my studio she decided that she wanted a casual outdoor photograph. So I set up a stool and some simple lighting in my back yard and here you are.

Leadership Simi Valley Graduation

On Friday I photographed the graduation ceremonies of the 2009 Leadership Simi Valley Class. The event was held at the Lost Canyons Country Club. Eighteen individuals completed the nine month course which exposes participants to all aspects of the community; including education, government, police and the non-profit community. Congratulations to you all!

Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce

After being a member of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce since 1982 and photographing dozens of installations dinners and various activities for the Chamber, This week I have been hired as the 'Official' photographer for the Chamber! Now I will be photographing at least two or three events each month. I look forward to seeing everyone!!

Simi Valley Hospital

Wow, I haven't blogged in quite a while. I have been very busy traveling up to Sequoia and teaching a class to 63 women on 'How to Take Better Pictures'. So I will try and catch-up as quick as possible. Anyway a few weeks ago I did a job for Simi Valley Hospital and Jeff Gordon over at Brightwise. Here is the finished product.

Cookware

Over the last couple of weeks I have been working two and three days down at Mike Chan Design photographing a wide variety of cookware from Keilen Llt. They distribute a wide variety of pots , pans and utensils under several brand names including Italian Villa, Mexican Fiesta and Joyce Chen.

The process of creating a cover shot for some of the cookware was challenging. Mike would prepare the food in a makeshift kitchen in a corner of his office while I set up the background and atmosphere which consisted of food items themed around the product.

Photo 1 shows some of the hundreds of items photographed either for a product cover or catalog.

Photo 2 shows a finished shot with artwork as is would appear on the store shelf.

Photo 3 shows the finished shot of the fajita platter.

Photo 4 is the setup with a steel pan as the place holder. The background are vinyl floor tiles.

Debbi Clark

Congratulations to Debbi Clark the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District's Employee of the Year. Debbi met her husband John while they both attended Simi Valley High School.

AFP Luncheon

Last Wednesday I photographed the annual Association of Fundraising Professionals luncheon high atop the Crown Plaza Hotel in Ventura. The Master of Ceremonies was Lance Orozco from KCLU Radio. . It was especially significant since my wife Becca Merrell was an honoree.

Jess & Hal's Wedding

A perfect 10 is how I would describe Jess and Hal’s wedding last Saturday up at the Stephen S Wise Temple just off Mulholland Drive overlooking the San Fernando Valley. Jess and Hal had a great time and so did their guests as they partied into the night. Everyone danced had fun and danced some more. These black and white images give you a sense of the great time we all had.

Home Town Hero

Yesterday I had the pleasure to meet Paula Cornell. Paula has founded an organization call For the Troops. Through the use of volunteers and by the way of many individuals and businesses that donate items like food, music and books. These items are then packaged up and sent to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The pictures are for the City Focus newsletter in Simi Valley.

Bob Tummel Art

Bob Tummel is a local Camarillo artist. Today he and his wife Judy stopped by with several paints for me to photograph. Bob paint scenes of golf courses and lighthouses. Here are three of my favorites.
